“The AAU season was fun, but got a little tough when a St. Thomas More trip to Vegas was planned for right in the middle of the NCAA live period,” said Satter. “That and the distance between Rapid City and Sioux Falls made it tougher than I expected to contribute to Attack like I wanted.
“The team camps we did as STM were interesting. We started off playing poorly at BH and down in Boulder at the beginning of June, but started hitting our stride in Phoenix late June and then played extremely well in Las Vegas a couple of weeks ago.
“The most important thing to make me a better player is the skill development and lifting we do pretty much year round, but now that the AAU season is over it’ll be my focus again.”
St. Thomas More has high expectations of course once again.
“For St. Thomas More, our biggest challenge is replacing PJ Freidel at the point,” said Satter, a 6-foot-5 shooting guard. “I’m going to work on my ball skills in case Coach Hollenbeck asks me to help out at that position. Further, I’m going to continue improving my rebounding and defense.
“And while my strength, shooting, continues to improve, I believe there’s another level I can get to by the time the season rolls around. I want to improve tough shot making, shooting through contact and using my length to create space at mid-range.”
The list of schools looking at Satter ranges across the country and includes some look local college programs and teams in different parts of the country.
“I’m still talking regularly with South Dakota School of Mines, Black Hills State, Arizona Christian and have offers from them, plus Minot State and Morningside,” said Satter.
“This summer Colorado School of Mines, USF, DWU, Dakota State, Concordia, Knox College in Illinois, and Mid America Nazerene have reached out to me. I’ve made visits to University of Sioux Falls and Colorado School of Mines.
“I have invitations for visits and a couple of coaches that want to come to Rapid City to see me, but I didn’t want to schedule anything until after school started because I’ll be spending the next couple weeks in Phoenix.”
There are still others considering looking at Satter from other parts of the country as well.
“A few schools outside of the region have asked about me, but I haven’t sent them film yet,” Jake said. “But this fall coach Hollenbeck will help me put something together and we will see if that goes anywhere.”
