Prospect Spotlight: Stanley Williams (2018)

Although not yet a complete player, <strong>Stanley Williams</strong> from Eastmoor Academy has collegiate level measurables. With a little polish from the right coaching staff, his length and mobility are signs of a player who can contribute to a program. As a 2018 prospect, the 6'7" self-described “power forward” will eventually grow into his body. Currently, there’s a misunderstanding of how to utilize that size, as Williams has a tendency to drift away from the action. “I need to improve on boxing out. And my scoring ability needs to improve … Making offensive moves and just getting to the basket,” Williams said. Once he shows the aggressive gene in the mid- to low-post, attention from colleges is likely to follow. As of now, Williams told <em>PHO</em> that he’s not in contact with any schools. <img class="alignright size-medium wp-image-81133" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2016/08/unnamed-1-2-189x300.jpg" alt="unnamed-1" width="189" height="300" /> When asked to describe his game, he identified low-post scoring and rebounding as primary skills. Williams is not only 6’7”, he’s lengthy and spry. Capitalizing on those long arms and quick feet by closing on defense with more consistency could change his recruitment process. It’s unlikely that his recruitment will continue to be this quiet over the next two seasons — a reason for colleges to make an impression sooner than later. Williams played for King James Ohio Varsity this summer. He can also be seen this winter with Eastmoor Academy, where he carries a 2.5 GPA. The Warriors won the Thomas Worthington Summer League in June.
