Continue ReadingThis past summer was a key one for a lot of players but none maybe as much as it was for Crispus Attucks wing Jamal Harris. The 6’2 guard hasn’t played on a team since last summer due to his transfer from Anderson to Crispus Attucks. So, naturally, coaches have been interested to see how the high-flying athlete looks.
Well, he looks good enough to pick up five offers in the last few months. Since the spring, Harris has picked up offers from Indiana State, Western Illinois, Ball State, Toledo, and New Orleans. The latest is from the in-state Sycamores and it seems like it is a big one for him.
“ISU offer mean a lot because I really like the coaches have good connection with them,” Harris said. “Plus I have family there, not to far away from home. They really showed interest.”
He took a visit to to Indiana State this week and that is when the staff made their formal offer to Harris.
“Visit was good,” Jamal said of Indiana State. “Best part probably was talking to one of the academic advisor about helping the freshman get familiar with the campus & helping on & off the court.”
Harris has been getting even bigger interest as well. This past weekend he visited Purdue for their Alumni Game and Xavier and Louisville have also been reaching out.
The reason for his rise has been his pure athletic ability which is at a high level. However, the bigger key is that he is starting to mix in some legit skill with that athleticism and making plays on both ends of the floor. He has a ton of upside and that is starting to come to fruition. Coaches are noticing where he is at and where he could end up at sooner rather than later. This season will be big for him at Attucks as they have a great chance of competing for a State Championship.
