The Storm enjoyed a productive grassroots season, which including a berth in the championship game at the Adidas All-American Tournament in April. They also won the Midwest Summer Shootout in St. Louis in July. Here is a look at their top prospects:
Cameron Hester 6’7″ Jackson: A big, strong young post player who could dominate stretches of games in the interior. He has solid moves around the basket, along with good athleticism and aggressiveness, which makes him tough to deal with around the basket. He is also very good at scoring with both hands around the bucket. Starting to receive some Division I interest.
Hayden Sprenkel 6’2″ North County: He was one of the better shooters that I watched on the grassroots circuit during the summer. Hayden has a quick release and deep shooting range. He is also a solid ball handler when spent a lot of time at point guard. He also got to the basket and displayed a nice float game.
Pete Lake 6’6″ Jackson: A long, rangy athletic wing player with a versatile skill set. He likes to get out on the break and dunk in transition. He handles the ball well and likes to attack the basket, but he also has a nice stroke from 3-point range. With added strength, he could develop into a nice prospect. Stay tuned.
Dawson Dohogne 6’4″ Cape Notre Dame: An undersized power forward who has a fundamentally sound post game. He knows how to get good position and seal his defender. He has strong hands to catch the ball in traffic with good footwork and the shooting touch to finish. Textbook. The next step in his development will be to find a reliable high-post jumper.
Desmond Morris 6’3″ Jackson: A solid combo guard with good length and perimeter shooting ability. He has good size on the wing and can really knock down 3-pointers off the catch.
Nathan Ruark 6’4″ Saxony Lutheran: A solid young post player who does a lot of the little things to help a team be successful. He will set screens, box out on the defensive boards and play strong post defense. He has a nice touch around the basket.
