In July, the Missouri Hustle won the Gold Division championship at the NY2LA Next Level Invitational in Wisconsin. They advanced to the quarterfinals of both the Adidas Three Stripes Alliance Tournament in St. Louis and the NY2LA Final Chapter in Las Vegas.
Here is a look at the prospects on the Missouri Hustle:
Steve Webb 6’2″ (Westminster): He enjoyed an excellent summer with his aggressive and relentless style on both ends of the court. He attacked the basket at all times and got positive results. He was always among the leaders in steals in every tournament. He was able to earn a Division II scholarship offer from UMSL along with interest from some Division I schools such as Western Illinois.
Cliff DeGroot 6’3″ (Westminster): Cliff was one of the most consistent 3-point shooters of the summer. He displayed knock down shooting ability from well beyond the 3-point line. He did a great job of moving without the basketball in the halfcourt and running the court in transition to his spot. He is also developing a little dribble drive move.
Sam Orf 6’2″ (CBC): A very talented combo guard who got an early Division I offer from SEMO and added another offer from Division II Rockhurst during July. Sam was a bonafide bucket getter during throughout the summer with is ability to knock down 3-pointers from long distance and his ability to get to the basket and score at the rim. He will have a big senior year at CBC.
Eric Krus 6’6″ (Vianney): The Stretch 4 was excellent during the July Evaluation period. He shot the ball well extremely well from 3-point range, but he also rebounded and had a presence on defense on the interior. He did a great job of stretching the floor for his teammates’ driving ability. He had several double-doubles in July.
Cam Potts 6’1″ (Webster Groves): Cam provided the team’s top single highlight of the summer when he broke a rim with a tomahawk dunk in Vegas. He has developed into a plus athlete over the years. He played several roles from point guard, top defender, slasher and general all-purpose stud. His all-around play was a big key to the team’s success this summer.
Xavier Womack 6’5″ (Cardinal Ritter): A long slender combo forward who was very productive with his athleticism and high motor. He used that athletic ability to slither into gaps or swoop in for offensive rebounds and put-backs and dunks. Xavier also has a nice skill set which enables him to play on the wing and be a match-up problem.
B.J. Wilson 6’7″ (SLUH): The 260-pound Wilson provided the muscle and inside play for this perimeter oriented team. When he established his position, he was tough to move around in the paint. He was strong around the basket, especially when he was able to use his jump hook over the left shoulder.
