They won the Silver Division championship at the Gauntlet’s second stop in Dallas in April. They also advanced to the Final Four of the NY2LA Summer Slam in July. Here is a look at some of the top players for the Jets-Ramey United 16U.
Courtney Ramey 6’3″ Webster Groves: Already considered one of the top guards in the class nationally, Ramey’s stock really skyrocketed after a tremendous summer. After missing several weeks in the spring with a jaw injury, Ramey came back with a rampage, starting with a big performance at the NBPA Camp in June. His stellar play continued into July as he led the team with several sparking performances during the evaluation period. Ramey has earned close to 20 Division I offers and a national ranking.
Torrence Watson 6’4″ Whitfield: The talented shooting guard also raised his national profile with a tremendous July evaluation period. Watson carried the team offensively when Ramey was out during the spring. He continued that play into the summer with his versatile offensive game, which features 3-point shooting, the ability to get to the basket and score in traffic and a low post game where he can take advantage of his size. He also picked up several new Division I offers.
Gaven Pinkley 6’7″ Hillsboro: The versatile big capped a very productive summer by earning his first Division I offer from Illinois-Chicago. He already has Division II offers from Lindenwood and Central Missouri. The long and lean Pinkley has a variety of post moves and can score with both hands around the basket effectively. He also has an excellent drive game from the high post. He went to several Elite Camps and performed quite well. A definite stock riser.
Deandre Campbell 5’10” Parkway Central: A powerful young point guard with a nice combination of strength and quickness that makes him an impact player on both ends of the floor. He’s a prime-time scorer for his high school team, but he’s more of a facilitator during the summer, which he does a great job off with his passing and high basketball IQ. He is also an excellent defender.
Caleb Stroheimer 6’6″ Edwardsville (IL): The talented young post has continued to improve his overall game. He has strong moves around the basket and a nice shooting touch. He is also developing an impressive skill set with his ability to put the ball on the floor and score off the bounce.
Mike Sanders 5’10” SLUH: A small and slender guard who is very dependable at both backcourt positions with his ability to handle the ball and make open 3-pointers. He has good quickness and he is a salty competitor who doesn’t give an inch. He has experienced two Final Four runs with his high school team at SLUH.
Brenden Gillmann 6’3″ Oakville: A good sized wing player who provided quality 3-point shooting throughout the summer. Gillmann is the one who could space the floor the keep defenses honest with his perimeter shooting. He will be looked upon to do the same for his high school team with added ball handling responsibilities.
