Week 14: Updated Team Rankings & Summary
The notes from our latest 17U rankings are below as we finish up week 14 of the 17U season. We have two weeks to go as we finish up Grassroots basketball for 2016, here is the latest update.
SD Attack. Won all five games in the Ames, Iowa event that had ten teams including two bottom of the top 25 teams from Minnesota, the second Omaha Elite squad who is very good, some struggling teams from Iowa and Minnesota, and a couple squads from this area Prep Hoops has never heard of. Good to get five wins, much better than the competition.
BBA Force. Didn’t play this week which is too bad as it would have been cool to see them in that Iowa event with the Attack this weekend to see the two teams finally get a game against one another. Either way, they are 22-5 and with events to go they have a very good shot at 30 wins if they get a bunch this weekend. 30 wins would be a really cool goal for them.
ND Phenom. Moving up to say the least. The only reason they aren’t one or two is the early season loss to BBA but this team crushed teams in pool play, won their bracket play opener and then took a very very good Playground Elite team that used to be in the EYBL, they took them to overtime and lost by one. They likely had the best showing of anybody in the PHD area at 17s.
ECI Prospects. Really nice weekend for them winning several games including a couple wins over a top ten team from Minnesota (WOTN). This is a team that has definitely made progress and this was a very good weekend to show that. Excited to see how they do in the SPTS next weekend.
ECI Selects. A team that once again won games and impressed over the weekend. Not many teams in the Midwest have a “second” team as good as this one. Selects are having a really nice year and have a really nice group of players that should find their way to some college basketball team.
Dakota Niners Select. The Niners area really having a nice year. They are up to 15 wins and I think they should move up in these rankings but the problem is they have lost to the Heat and PBC teams twice so it’s tough to move them over them even though they have 15 wins and have been doing well including a 4-2 showing over the weekend They could help themselves with a nice showing in Sioux Falls this weekend because head to head is big but it can’t be everything.
