Chase Thomas 5’10: Alabama Celtics (Hickman): A talented point guard with a lot of offensive skills. Thomas has quickness and nice handles make him a very difficult player to stop in the open court and in the half court. Has a nice stop and pop jumper in the lane, but can also go outside and knock down 3-pointers. He plays with excellent pace, but he rarely gets out of control despite his quickness.
Destan Williams 5’9″ Jets-Ramey United (Pattonville): Another small guard who gets it done offensively as a facilitator and a potent scorer. He keeps the ball moving up court at a fast and furious pace and keeps his head on a swivel at all times. I love his ability to stop on the dime and elevate for a mid range jumper with little effort. He also has excellent 3-point range. He was also a pest on defense with his quick hands. He is drawing some interest from Division I schools such as Oral Roberts and Eastern Illinois.
Alec Spence 6’5″ Jets-Ramey United (MICDS): A talented swingman with a vareity of offensive talents. He displayed his feathery shooting touch from the mid range area and beyond the 3-point line. Spence also put in some solid work on the boards as he scored on a number of offensive put backs. He has an early offer from SEMO and interest from Indiana State and Evansville.
Sterling Hicks 6’2″ KC Pacers Blue (St. Joe Lafayette): A robust wing player who has an excellent combination of size and strength to make him an effective player. His physical body enables him to play through contact and get to the basket and finish. He is an excellent ball handler and passer who can create offense for others. Capable of playing all three perimeter positions.
General Williams 6’1″ KC Oz Elite (Lee’s Summit Christian): This was my first look at this talented point guard and I was impressed with his combination of athleticism and court savvy. He was good at getting himself into the lane and he had an excellent float game. Williams can also shoot the 3-pointer. He also flashed his athletic chops by throwing down a one-handed dunk off an impressive baseline drive.
Zach Bush 6’1″ St. Louis Majestics (Ladue): He is a savvy point guard who is strong with the ball and exhibits excellent court vision. I like how he puts the ball in the hands of his teammates when they are in a position to score. He finds the shooting pocket of his shooters. He makes any team better. Offensively, he is at his best when he’s able to get to the basket.
Traellis Miller 6’5″ KC Oz Elite (Raytown): This young man was a ferocious rebounder who attacked the boards with great passion on both ends. In one game I watched, I counted eight rebounds in a seven-minute period. He just had a great nose for the ball and he did a great job of gobbling up boards out of his area.
Saxton Thurston 6’2″ KC Pacers Blue (St. Joe Benton): A unique player who’s either a small power forward or a good sized wing player. Despite being only 6’2, he is strong enough and crafty enough to handle himself in the low post. He can also handle the ball and knock down a mid-range jumper with confidence.
