Andy Bear of D-17s – One Thought. The type of strong player that you can throw on a bigger player and have him get low and push the post out, or the type of guy that can go the other way and handle if you need but does more as the active worker setting strong screens and cutting off the ball.
Jayden Burggraff of BBA Force – One Thought. Has to be the type of guy coaches love because he seems willing to do anything for his team in any role. Always working hard, always defending, always going after loose balls.
Ethan Freidel of BBA Force – One Thought. He’s just a one man scoring explosion. At one point he had eight points in a minute. Deep range on the jumper, can hit it pulling-up, feet set, or one dribble stepping back. Is also doing a lot with a pair of dribbles and in transition he is a nightmare because he loves to catch against the defensive retreat and make them pay for their late scramble or slow reaction. Has to be one of the biggest shooting threats in the area.
Jaden Klabo of D-17s – One Thought. Love his shooting touch, Jaden will be one of the state’s top 2019 players. There is little doubt about that. Klabo has a big frame and a perimeter touch.
Joey Messler of BBA Force – One Thought. Didn’t know he had the versatile ability to play lead guard but he does and he does it pretty well. Also does a nice job of using his length to be an active threat after the first entry. Versatile player.
Jake Paper of D-17s – One Thought. He is about 6-foot-6 and stronger inside that we thought. In both games that we watched it seemed that everybody in his area Paper came away with. Sometimes the work was clearing his man than grabbing, other times it was a scrum and he collected.
Jake Reinholz of D-17s – One Thought. Loved his hesitation dribble into a bursting attack score at the rim. One of the best hesitation dribbles I’ve seen. A nice slasher.
Tyrell Setness of D-17s– One Thought. Setness is a very long armed four man with big hands and feet. Starting to come into his own as a consistent player and if he grows more like you think he could based on his length, he could be more dangerous in the future.
Matt Veit of D-17s – One Thought. Veteran player, so much to like. His reads in the halfcourt waiting for plays to develop are outstanding. When he puts the ball on the deck Matt makes you step in front of him or he will fight his way to deep space and complete. Late in the game he had a reverse lay-up, a step through score, and a pull-up in transition to complete another strong scoring day. A tough veteran.
Tayton Vincent of Dakota Schoolers – One Thought. Watched Tayt play a lot of lead guard this weekend and he handled pressure well, made a lot of strong initial leads, and he got into his one dribble attack left into production several times for results. Had a really nice game against WOTN and the Minnesota Comets the first time around. Pull-up looked good.
Cooper Williams of Dakota Schoolers – One Thought. Cooper looked like a confident scorer this weekend in the games we watched. Hit with his feet set, hit on the attack into a pull-up, and scored a couple times going at length at the rim and touching over the top. Played by guard spots.
