Continue ReadingAs we embark on the all-important July evaluation period, we look to keep track all of the top players in the state of Missouri. Some of those players are hidden away in small towns at Class 1 and 2 schools. They are usually operating under the radar in their home towns, so the summer is an excellent opportunity for them to display their talents on the grassroots circuit.
Here are some of those small-town Class 1 and 2 standouts that are worth looking at in July:
Isaac Weider 6’3″ Vienna, 2018 (Gateway 16U): Young shooter is on track to finish his career as one of the top scorers in the history of the state. When he steps in the gym, he is in shooting range. Did a good job getting buckets on the Adidas Gauntlet Circuit
Jake Allen 6’2″ Otterville, 2017 (Missouri Mavericks Elite): A talented point guard who averaged 26 points a game along with a bunch of rebounds and assists from his guard position. Has caught the attention of a number of schools at different levels.
Wesley Sharp 6’6″ Ellington, 2017 (SEMO Bulls 17U): A long combo forward who is making the transition from a post player to the wing. He handles the ball and can shoot the 3-pointer.
Marshon Morrisey 6’4″ Ellington, 2017 (SEMO Bulls 17U): A bull of a power forward who plays with a high motor in the low post. An excellent offensive rebounder who puts his 240-pounds to good use against bigger opponents.
Jak Kitchens 6’6″ New Bloomfield, 2018 (Mid-Mo Elite 16U): A nice combo forward who is developing a versatile skill set. He scores from the post and can make high post jumpers off the catch. He is also a good passer who makes teammates better.
Preston Wuebker 6’0″ Advance, 2017 (SEMO Bulls 17U): Talented combo guard who can knock down 3-pointers from long distance. Plays with a lot of intensity. Can shoot off the catch and off the dribble.
Armani Vermillion 5’11” Advance, 2018 (Top Flight 16U): Excellent young point guard who has the ability to get to the basket and score in traffic. Was a freshman starter on a Class 1 Final Four team in 2015.
Mathew Coatney 6’4″ Mt. View Liberty, 2017 (South Central Fury): Talented wing player with excellent size and passing ability. He can get to the basket with strength and can shoot the 3-pointer.
Emmanuel White 5’11” Clarkton, 2017 (SEMO Bulls): Talented point guard from a Class 1 school who can score and make teammates better. Averaged 20 points a game as a junior.
Garrett Francis 6’3″ Salisbury, 2017 (Missouri Hustle Central, 17U): Solid combo forward who can play multiple positions on the floor. A top player for one of the state’s top Class 2 programs.
Brad Hailey 6’5″ Stanberry, 2018 (KC Premiere): Solid young forward who played a big role in Stanberry’s run to the Class 1 state championship. Played alongside his older brother, Daniel Hailey, who is headed to UMKC.
