Tampa Prep 2018 forward Trey Sibert hustles every time he hits the floor. Last season, the 6'5", 206-pounder broke out in a big way for the Terrapins averaging 12.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game. Tampa Prep finished 19-11 and fell just short in the 3A region final against Windermere Prep, 73-70.
"I think I had a big influence on my team this past season and helped in every way that I possibly could. I was told that I really needed to step up and play my role since we lost Juwan [Durham] for the season. I learned a lot from the seniors including things such as never giving up on a play and being aggressive at all times."
With hard work in the paint grabbing boards and battling for buckets, Sibert helped alleviate the absence of graduating senior and Connecticut commit Juwan Durham last season.
Here's how Sibert describes his own game.
"I like to get to the basketball and play through the post. I'm very strong and athletic so I'm able to finish through contact. I need to work on my mid-range game, it will be needed to make it to the next level."
He has played AAU ball the last four years for coach John Arroyo and the Skills Center Elite.
"It has been great. My team feels more like my family. My team always has my back and they refuse to let my attitude change when I'm having an off game. Coach Arroyo has always been a big influence on me. Since I first joined the skills center elite it showed that he really cared and wants me to play at the next level. Being around this group of people is a true blessing."
Sibert doesn't have his first offer yet, but he's drawn interest from the New Jersey Institute of Technology, North Dakota State, George Washington, Niagara and Ohio. He plays much bigger than his 6'5" frame and should earn offers at some point this season as he enters his junior year. Sibert is a real threat on both ends of the floor.
He ranks No. 67 in the Prep Hoops Florida 2018 rankings.
Here's a clip of Sibert from an AAU tournament in May at Tampa Catholic. Look at that concentration as he puts home a tough layup underneath the basket.
