The 6’2″ Webb is a physically-build guard who plays at maximum speed on both ends of the court. When he is not attacking the basket on the dribble, he is darting into passing lanes and playing defense with unbridled enthusiasm.
“I am always on the go,” Webb said. “I just like to keep the intensity up at the high level.”
With Webb’s athleticism and intensity, it should not be a surprise that he is also a standout on Westminster’s football team as well. He received his first offer in basketball from the University of Missouri-St. Louis after an excellent performance at their team camp.
Webbis also getting collegiate interest in both sports. For basketball, he has heard from Illinois State, Western Illinois, UMKC and Central Arkansas. In football, he has garnered interest from Northern Iowa, Western Illinois and Southern Illinois. At this point, he isn’t leaning towards either sport.
“They are both pretty evenly matched right now,” Webb said. “I don’t know right now.”
Webb has been playing with the Missouri Hustle 17U team during the grassroots season. Although he is at his best as a slashing wing player, he has been playing a lot of point guard this summer for the Hustle during the NY2LA League circuit. The Hustle is currently 5-2 in the NY2LA League.
“I’ve been working on controlling the team as a point guard,” Webb said. “I’ve got to make sure that everything is flowing right.”
As a junior, Webb really stuffed the stat sheet in helping lead Westminster to a 20-6 record. He averaged 13.2 points, 7.2 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 3.0 steals while shooting 52 percent from the field and blocking a team-high 39 shots. On the football field, Webb rushed for xxx yards in leading Westminster to a 13-1 record and berth in the Class 4 state quarterfinals. He wants to lead both teams to greater heights during his senior year.
“In basketball, I want to get to 1,000 points and go deep in the state playoffs,” Webb said. “In football, we want to get to that state championship game. We’ve been close, but we haven’t been able to get over the hump.”
