A crafty left-hander with a deadly crossover and pull-up jumper, Johal is a creative scorer able to put lots of points on the board. After averaging 10 points per game as a freshman, Johal averaged 25 per game as a sophomore, including seven 30-point games and a career-high 41.
For his efforts, Johal earned all-state honors and was a first-team All-Ozark Conference selection.
He has spent the summer working on his game and starring for Yanders Law in the NY2LA series.
“It’s been a good learning experience and an good adjustment in my AAU season so far,” Johal said. “I’ve been working on a lot of ball handling, explosiveness, and coming off screens for set shots, and I’ve been learning more about the game itself.”
He currently has two NCAA Division I offers from Jacksonville State and UW-Milwaukee and is hearing from several others, including Nebraska, Oregon, IUPUI and Missouri State.
Following the graduation of seniors Tristen Baker, Zach Helm and Will Sachs, the Glendale Falcons will have a different look after going 19-10 and advancing to the Missouri Class 4 quarterfinals last season.
“Our team this year at Glendale is gonna be a lot smaller in height, but we have a ton of shooters this year which will make it hard to stop and fun to play,” Johal said. “Also, I’ve been playing with all of my teammates currently since middle school, so the chemistry is all there.”
Johal said he looks up to a pair of NBA left handers, James Harden and Manu Ginobili.
“I’m a lefty so I like looking at other leftys and their game,” he said.
