“AAU was great because it let me see all the other guys out there with varied talents and abilities,” said Talley. “It really showed me that I have to work hard to become a good player.
“All the close games against teams from all over the place give me good experience. Made me better because knowing that each guy out there is trying to get to the college level, I needed to develop a higher skill set, so it pushed me harder.”
Talley is now a senior year leader at Washington and after last year’s runner up finish at state Jack is stepping forward to help his team fulfill potential.
“Making sure that myself and all my teammates are in the weight room every day is my focus,” said Jack. “Getting a ton of shots up and just playing whether it be at open gym or wherever we end up playing.”
In addition to the seven events in the SPTS and NY2LA Basketball leagues of play Talley also played with his Washington teammates in the ECI Spring Review and SD Heat Tournament so he’s spent most of his spring and summer weekends playing with his basketball team.
At those events Dakota Wesleyan and Jamestown offered Jack scholarships. Talley has those options and a few others that are growing.
“I am talking to a few schools about possible scholarship opportunities,” said Talley. “It felt good to receive the offers. Hopefully I’ll get a few more.
“Visits are being set up with University of Mary, University of Sioux Falls, and Morningside. I plan on visiting a couple more schools in the NSIC.”
