An long, rangy 6-foot-7 2016 forward, Sears has a diverse skill set and can play all over the floor. He can score in the post, or step away from the basket and face up, scoring from the high post or driving to the bucket from the 3-point line.
At the defensive end, Sears is an athletic rim protector who has terrific mobility and timing as a shot blocker.
“I am a versatile player and cause multiple match up problems,” he said. “I’ve been working on getting stronger around the basket.”
Sears helped Lee’s Summit to a Final Four appearance and helped the Tigers start the season 29-0 before eventually falling in Columbia. He says he has heard from several schools this summer but does not yet have any offers. To that end, he has announced he is headed to Life Prep in Wichita, Kan. for a prep year.
“I’m excited to go prep and I think it will not only help me mature more as a person, but also as a player,” he said. “I know when I put in my heart and dedication the possibilities are endless.”
He has spent the summer competing for Team Rush, a squad that features some of the premier talent in the Kansas City area, including Jamichael Morgan, AJ Webster, Dru Smith, Kenny Byers, and others.
“I’ve developed relationships with good people and it has helped me become a leader being the oldest one on the team,” Sears said.
