Recruiting Report: Bob Faller (2018)

Considering the upwards trend in <strong>Bob Faller</strong>’s game since entering high school, who knows how high his talents could reach? “When I came to the Wellington School in ninth grade, I was labeled as like the shooter and like stayed behind the three … My sophomore season, my assistant coach talked to me … and kind of challenged me really. And that was huge for me. Because then I changed my game to where I was more just than a shooter,” Faller said. Encouraged by that exchange with his assistant coach at Wellington School, Faller has since thrived. “I can attack the rim, I can do floaters, I can off the dribble pull-ups and everything … Honestly if it wasn’t for him, my whole sophomore season would have stayed behind the three-point line and shot threes the whole time. But now, I’m like more than that.” &nbsp; https://vimeo.com/165142858 The 6’3” guard/wing prospect in the 2018 class runs with the 270 Hoops Select AAU team. On a team amongst quality Columbus-area players, Faller has been a consistent contributor. Last weekend, he took a weekend trip to Philadelphia for the Hoop Group Camp. During the camp, he was evaluated into the top tier of prospects. “I made the top division, NBA East. There’s three divisions. There’s a try-out at first and then they break everyone off … I held my own and played pretty well.” Faller told Prep Hoops Ohio that he was approached by a few Division III coaches during the event. He has also received interest from a couple particular in-state programs, also at the D-III level. “When I went to Wittenberg for a basketball team camp, the head coach came and talked to me. And he said I looked good in a Wittenberg shirt I was wearing actually. Also Wooster has sent me a few letters, encouraging me to come back to an elite camp they host,” Faller said. “Mainly D-III right now. But I’m hoping if I get a good, strong end to AAU season and a good junior season, that will change in the future honestly.” Faller’s options will most likely open up throughout the next few seasons. As interest from D-II and D-III schools roll in, he’ll know what he's looking for. “I want a school that like, I like not just because of basketball. And I would want to go there even if I wasn’t going to play … Because I like the campus, because the people are welcoming … Academics is huge for me,” Faller said, who has a 3.7 GPA and would like to major in business. <img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-75492" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2016/07/IMG_6607.jpg" alt="IMG_6607" width="320" height="213" /> While he has developed a versatility to his offensive game, Faller remains a knock-down shooter off the catch. He is currently working on furthering his off-the-dribble threats. Just being more aggressive with the ball in his hands will be a crucial part of that. The junior to be responds very well to being pushed by a coaching staff — willing to do what it takes to help the team. His game will only continue to grow with more opportunity as an upperclassman. His strong supporting cast, not only with coaches but also with family, makes him a low-risk prospect for programs interested in offering a scholarship.
