A 6-foot-3, 155-pound guard, Taylor was one of several 2018 players to earn playing time for a talented Grandview squad last season.
He played in 24 games, averaged 4.3 points and 1.4 assists and was one of the team’s top outside shooting threats, making 20 3-pointers and shooting 41 percent from long distance.
“I would describe my game as smooth,” Taylor said. “I don’t play very fast paced but I do get where I want on the court. I use my size to get past and score over smaller defenders.
“I can hit spot up three’s and mid- range pull ups. For my high school team I do all of those things, but I also mange the point guard and control the game for my team
too.”
Taylor said he has been focused on being more aggressive and becoming a more consistent shooter this summer.
Although he currently does not hold any offers, Taylor has received letters from university of Denver Colorado, IUPUI, Air Force, Navy and Stanford.
He says he tries to pattern his game after another tall point guard, NBA Hall of Famer Magic Johnson.
“(He was) a large, not super athletic, point gaurd that did some of every thing,” Taylor said.
Taylor said the spring and summer competing for KC Run GMC that has given him a bigger role than the one he experienced in high school.
“My spring and summer with Run GMC has made me more aggressive in taking advantage of every change I get since I don’t get as much time or touches as I would playing for my high school,” he said. “It had also made me a better defender playing against gaurds that might be quicker, stronger or larger than me.”
