At 5-foot-9, Williams says he patterns his game Desi Williams says he tries to model his game after former UConn stars Shabazz Napier and Kemba Walker by, “being one or two plays ahead of the game, being a leader and knocking down the open shot when I have it.”
“I would describe my game as a facilitator first and a scorer second as well as being a player who feeds off of his defense,” Williams said. “Some of my best qualities on the court are seeing the floor, scoring, and defending which is something I always pride myself on.”
He has been a key part of an undefeated summer by KC Run GMC 15U, who won the Under Armour Association Finals. The squad kept its undefeated summer alive last weekend as they won the Jayhawk Summer Finale in Kansas City, defeating Team Thad in the championship by one point.
“This year was by far the best I’ve experience from a team stand point,” he said. “This summer I became more of an extinction of my coach on the floor and apply all that I’ve learned at practice, and most importantly being coachable.”
Although he does not yet hold any offers, Williams says he has heard from several NCAA Division I programs already, including Denver, St. Johns, Navy and Kansas State.
