The squad is in Kansas City this weekend, competing at the Hardwood Classic.
Pierce said Rosas brings physical toughness to the game.
“He is a diamond in the rough as he is from Ava, and most people haven’t heard his name,” Pierce said. “He fights under the basket and will also slide across the floor on a lose ball. Ant can also hit the three.
“He is a great kid to coach.”
Rosas says he views himself as a hustle guy with the ability to get a basket, a stop on defense or secure a defensive rebound.
“I think I run the floor really well and I have played forward/center my whole life and with my ability to shoot the ball spreads the defense. I think I spread and run the floor really well.”
Rosas says he has spent the offseason focused on becoming more athletic, explosive and expanding his range.
“I have ben really focusing on improving my midrange shot and midrange post game,” he says. “All in all I have been just trying to improve every part of my game everyday.”
Although he has mostly played forward, Rosas says he looks up to Kobe Bryant and has tried to pattern his game after the retired star.
“He is my favorite player and although he is a guard and I am a forward, his ability to post up and use his quickness and footwork to get around defenders is amazing. I really try to focus my post game after him.”
