Also a standout on the football field, Fair says he has been working on his face up game during the offseason.
“I think I’m a very smart player,” Fair said. “I may not be the most athletic but I can get things done by out thinking my opponent.
“I’ve been working on my face up game so I can see double teams when they come in the post and perimeter defense so I can guard the more athletic bigs with handles.”
Fair says he looks up to NBA players David West and Al Jefferson and others.
“(They) aren’t the flashy performers but know how to get the job done,” he said.
He has teamed this summer with a host of Kansas City-area standouts for Dominique Johnson and the Keys, including Lee’s Summit West point guard Phillip Brooks, Oak Park forward Ochaie Agbaji and others.
“I love my team. My coach (Johnson) has been very helpful,” Fair says. “He tells me to be aggressive all the time but also play smart and has also help me step out of my comfort zone.
“My teammates are also great because without them I wouldn’t be able to do the things I have this summer.”
Fair says he hasn’t yet heard from any colleges, but feels his time is coming.
“As of now I haven’t heard from any schools and I don’t have any offers I feel them coming soon though,” he said.
