A four-year varsity regular, Ehrhardt burst on the scene as a freshman, averaging 10 points per game and earning All Ozark Conference Honorable Mention honors.
“It is crazy to believe it is already Jack’s senior year,” Lebanon High School boys head coach Adam Thornhill said. “Jack has been a big part of our varsity for all three years of his high school career,” he said.
Ehrhardt has grown physically over the years, and he played football last season. This, according to Thornhill, has made him become increasingly tougher out on the basketball court, and now Thornhill looks to his senior to take command in the arena of leadership.
Also a football standout, Ehrhardt joined the ‘Jackets as a wide receiver last season for the first time and made a big impact, hauling in 16 passes for 280 yards and four touchdowns.
“Outside of basketball I work out and condition everyday, but I try to do push ups and sit ups every night on my own,” Ehrhardt said.
This summer Ehrhardt has carried the burden of the load of his role as leader. He said the younger players just naturally follow him because of his extended varsity experience and how he carries himself. However, Ehrhardt is also focusing on not just leading by example and stature, but also with vocal intention.
“He had a really good spring with the Missouri Flight — a good experience with them. He has had a really good June with us. He has just showed his maturity both physically and mentally that a senior leader needs to have.
“Plus he has added the strength and lightning quickness getting to the basket. Jack is one of the tougher people … to keep in front of you and he knows that is one of his strengths,” Thornhill said.
Ehrhardt will play again with the Missouri Flight in July and will play in multiple tournaments readying himself for the season.
“My style of play is to play up tempo and get to the basket. I like to play aggressive and that fits perfectly with our team’s style,” Ehrhardt said. “I feel like I bring energy and leadership to this team which will both be very important this year. I am very excited to see what this year will bring.
“I am always working on becoming a better ball handler and being able to get my teammates open shots. I have also been working on my shot which has been one of my struggles in high school, but has improved over the past year.”
