Continue ReadingWe are going to start a series of stories for this Fall where we take a look back at past classes to see where former Indiana High School basketball players are in their career. Today with start with the Class of 2012. This was one of the best classes the state of Indiana has seen in some time with names like Gary Harris, Yogi Ferrell, Ronnie Johnson, and many, many others. We start now with some of the players that committed to schools at the Mid-Major level:
Bo Calhoun (6’6 – South Bend Washington) – Committed to Ball State where he played all four seasons for the Cardinals.
Bola Olaniyan (6’6 – Richmond) – Committed to Southern Illinois where he redshirted his first year with the Salukis. He then played the next three seasons before leaving as a graduate transfer for his final season. Awaiting decision on transfer.
D.J. Balentine (6’2 – Kokomo) – Committed to Evansville where he played all four seasons for the Aces. He went undrafted in the 2016 NBA Draft.
DaVeon Balls (6’0 – Lawrence North) – Committed to Northern Illinois where he played his first two seasons before transferring. Did not play again.
Dejuan Marrero (6’5 – Bowman Academy) – Committed to DePaul where he redshirted his first season and played as a redshirt freshman. He transferred to Chipola (JUCO) for one season. He then transferred to Morehead State last season. He has one year of eligibility remaining.
Jalen Pendleton (6’2 – Evansville Bosse) – Committed to Southern Illinois where he played three seasons for the Salukis. He then transferred to Minnesota State and played his final year of eligibility.
Jared Drew (6’6 – Cathedral) – Committed to Saint Louis where he redshirted his freshman year. He then transferred to Lake Land College (JUCO) where he played the last two seasons. He has one year of eligibility remaining.
Jeff Laidig (6’3 – Penn) – Committed to Belmont where he played all four season for the Bruins.
Kellen Dunham (6’6 – Pendleton Heights) – Committed to Butler, played all four season at Butler. Went undrafted in the 2016 NBA Draft.
Kellon Thomas (5’10 – Southport) – Committed to Kent State where he played his first two seasons before redshirting the 2014-15 season. He played there as a junior before becoming a graduate transfer and heading to IUPUI where he has one year remaining.
Matt O’Leary (6’6 – Terre Haute North) – Committed to Loyola (IL) where he played his first two seasons. He then sat our a year due to transfer to IUPUI. He played last season with the Jaguars and has one season of eligibility remaining.
Michael Ramey (6’4 – Southport) – Committed to Ball State where he played his freshman season but became ill and received a medical hardship waiver. He then transferred to Miami Dade College (JUCO) where played for a year. Then transferred to Seminole State College (JUCO) where he played for a year. He then transferred to Southern Miss where he has one year of eligibility remaining.
Mislav Brzoja (6’6 – Traders Point Christian) – Committed to Villanova where he played one season. He sat our the 2013-14 season due to transfer to Evansville. He played the last two seasons with the Aces. He has one season of eligibility remaining.
Nick Osborne (6’8 – Muncie Central) – Committed to Loyola (IL) where he played two years. He then sat out a year due to his transfer to IUPUI. Nick played last season with IUPUI and has forgone his final year of eligibility.
Rhett Smith (6’6 – Sullivan) – Committed to Indiana State where he played one season in Terre Haute. He then transferred to Hillsdale (DII) where he has played in the 2013-14 and 2014-15 seasons. He redshirted this past season and will have one season of eligibility remaining.
