Elijah Childs 6’7″ KC Run GMC (Lee’s Summit West): The best forward in the tournament by a wide margin. Childs was excellent in leading Run GMC to the tournament championship. He plays with athleticism, energy and has a very good skill set from 15 feet in. He is so explosive around the basket as he dunks at every opportunity. He can put it on the floor from the high post and make the 15 footer. He’s so tough around the basket. Reminds me a little of former St. John’s star Walter Berry.
Isaiah Sears 6’6″ Team Rush (Life Christian): Former Lee’s Summit standout who’s reclassifying to 2017 class and doing a year of Prep at Life Christian. A long and lean Stretch 4 who is very skilled. He has excellent 3-point range, but he can also put it on the floor and score in the post. He is a difficult match-up with his length and versatility. The stronger he gets, the better he’s going to get.
Arinze Mgbemena 6’6″ Team Rush (O’Hara): An athletic power forward who plays with aggression and a high motor. Primarily a role player for his talented team, but he does it well as he sets screens and crashes the boards with reckless abandon. Brings a lot of energy to the proceedings whenever he enters the game.
Jacob Moore 6’6″ KC Pacers Blue (Odessa): A very solid post player who was very effective in the paint. Did most of his scoring on dump downs off penetration and offensive rebounds, but he finished well. I liked how he defended the post as he did not concede position or the catch to anybody. He set solid screens and played his role quite well.
Olawale Odofin 6’9″ St. Louis Gym Rats (St. Louis Christian): A long and athletic player who is still in the developmental stage on offense. He excels on the defense end where he uses his length to block and alter shots in the lane.
