MoKan Elite completed its mission on Sunday by dismantling the PSA Cardinals 93-65 in the championship game, which was televised nationally on ESPNU.
MoKan Elite’s roster was well represented by Missouri players from all over the Show-Me State. They were led by former Columbia Father Tolton star Michael Porter Jr, who was the Most Valuable Player of the Peach Jam. Michael Porter and his brother Jontay Porter will be moving from Mid-Missouri to Seattle, Washington after leading Tolton to the Class 3 state championship in 2016. Jontay Porter was also a key member of MoKan’s team.
MoKan Elite also had players from St. Louis (Carte’are Gordon, Webster Groves), Kansas City (Bryan Trimble and Derrick Walker of Sunrise Christian) and Springfield (Jared Ridder and Cameron Davis of Kickapoo). Each played a valuable role in the team’s championship.
Michael Porter, Jr. – Proved to be the dominant force in the Nike EYBL has he averaged nearly 30 points in the Peach Jam. He had 33 points and six rebounds in the championship game against the PSA Cardinals. He also had 25 points and 13 rebounds against California Supreme in the semifinals and 31 points and 14 rebounds against Mean Streets in the quarterfinals.
Carte’are Gordon: After helping Team USA to the gold medal at the FIBA U17 World Championships in Spain, the 6’8″ Gordon returned to help MoKan win a Peach Jam title. He had six points and eight rebounds in the championship game. His high game for the Peach Jam was 15 points in the opener against King James.
Jared Ridder: The 6’7″ Ridder scored all eight of his points in the championship game in the first half, including a couple of 3-pointers. He also had 10 points and five rebounds in the quarterfinals against Meanstreets.
Jontay Porter: The 6’10” Porter was a consistent force on the boards throughout the tournament. The Washington commit had eight rebounds in the championship game. and knocked down a 3-pointer in the second half. He also had seven points and nine rebounds in the quarterfinals against Meanstreets.
Bryan Trimble: The Florida State commit enjoyed two double-figure scoring performances during the Peach Jam. He scored 10 points in victories over King James and Team Takeover during pool play.
Derrick Walker: The 6’8″ power forward enjoyed his best game of the week in pool play when he had 14 points and seven rebounds in a victory over the Las Vegas Prospects. He also had six points and six rebounds in a victory over Meanstreets in the quarterfinals.
Cameron Davis: The 6’1″ Davis provided valuable backup minutes throughout the tournament as a ball handler and distributor. He got a bucket in in both the semifinals and championship games.
