Tyreese Davis 6’6″ KC Run GMC (Life Christian): An excellent combo forward who helped lead Run GMC to the tournament championship. Davis is an active athlete who did a nice job of attacking the basket from the wing and finishing strong, including several dunks. He could also stop and pop the jumpers off the dribble. Ran the court at every opportunity in transition. He was also a beast in the low post and offensive boards. He displayed a high motor and excellent second and third jump on the offensive glass. An all-around talent who was fun to watch.
Clay Gayman 6’5″ Gateway (Nevada): One of the most consistent players in the tournament, Gayman posted double-doubles throughout the weekend. He displayed his strength and versatile game as he dominated the low post with his scoring, but also stepped out and knocked down jumpers off the dribble. He also rebounded at a high rate throughout the weekend.
Wesley McCullough 6’7″ KC Magic (Raymore-Peculiar): A long and lanky Stretch 4 who enjoyed some very good offensive performances during the tournament. He displayed an excellent touch from 3-point range, which is good for the pick and pop. He also did a nice job scoring around the basket with both hands. He moves well and also displayed some good passing skills.
Eathan Swanegan 6’6″ KC Magic (Blue Springs South): A strong combo forward with a big body at about 205 pounds. He was very comfortable in the low post and on the perimeter. He displayed the ability to get to the basket off the dribble and finish strong. Took opposing bigs off the dribble and scored in the low post against smaller players. I liked his turnaround jumper in the post over the left shoulder. Strong and versatile.
Cecil Lee 6’6″ KC Pacers Blue (Park Hill): A long Stretch 4 with an impressive wingspan, which he put to good use on defense. He was an effective shot blocker with good timing and he also did a nice job defending on the perimeter with his length, especially against the high ball screen. Offensively, Lee is an excellent 3-point shooter off the catch, which makes him a good pick and pop player.
Mason Fair 6’5″ KC Keys Elite (Raytown): A big, burly 235-pound power forward who is a does more than a solid job in the low post. Had an excellent opening game against a good Alvin Gentry team with 17 points. Really delivered some big buckets late. He is strong and gets good position in the low post and can finish. He is also a good shot blocker who makes up for his lack of athleticism with his length and good timing. He also rebounds out of his area well.
Matt Leritz 6’5″ St. Louis Prospects (SLUH): A solid combo forward who has a nice well-rounded offensive game. He showed the ability to score in the post, including a turnaround jumper in the lane. He also finished with a couple of dunks in the paint off the pick and roll. Leritz and also step out and knock down mid-range jumpers and has good 3-point range.
Cartez Crook-Jones 6’3″ KC Keys Elite (Grandview): An undersized power forward with an impressive body. Plays bigger than his actual size because of his physical strength and athletic ability. Plays a very physical game in the low post, especially when it’s time to grab a rebound. Does most of his offensive work around the basket.
Elijah Farr 6’6″ KC Run GMC (Lee’s Summit North): A big 220-pound post player who does a lot of the physical, grinding work for a very talented team that won the tournament championship. Farr has a good set of skills and a big body to go with it, but at the same time he plays a strong role for this team with his rebounding, screening and physical defense in the post.
Henry Gladson 6’5″ St. Louis Prospects (Chaminade): A very effective post player who did a very effective job at 240 pounds. He enjoyed a very good weekend as he moved around in the post quite well and scored in the post. He also has an excellent shooting touch from 15 feet. He has good moves in the post and solid footwork.
Mitchell Baack 6’7″ KC Pacers Blue (Park Hill): A solid role player with good size and good fundamentals, Baack is a good passing big who does not make a lot of mistakes. He is an ideal high post player because of his passing ability and nice shooting touch. Works hard for rebounding position and stays active.
Tony Chukwuemeke 6’10” Gateway (St. Louis Christian): One of the biggest players in the tournament, he made a positive impact with his size as a defensive presence in the post. He made it hard for opposing teams to score inside. His offensive game is still a work in progress, but he makes up for it by being an imposing obstacle on the defensive end.
