Team: PBC
Returning Line-Up: Dylan Barrow, Dylan LeBrun, Christophe Bwanye, Cole Bergan, Zach Heins
A Need: Maybe some more wing size or some size up front
Final Thought: The team had an enjoyable run to their different events and highlighted their season with a medal in Orlando. It will be interesting to see what they do in year two as far as taking steps towards the 17U level not just player wise but everything. Year two is always interesting in terms of where a program sees they want to improve themselves.
Team: ND Cougars
Returning Line-Up: Landen Foster, Max Henry, Nick Effertz, Wyatt Hanson, Kaedyn Hanson
A Need: If they don’t have Logan Wangerin (moved to Apple Valley) with them they will need size.
Final Thought: We selfishly wish they would of played in a couple more events and hope next year they do as Kaedyn will be a top 2018 prospect in North Dakota.
Team: ECI
Returning Line-Up: Kade Lynch, Josh Sipes, Joe Pistorius, Cam Saville, Kade Amundson,
A Need: They need more size if they can find it in North Dakota. They had one guy over 6-4 last year.
Final Thought: ECI is going to have some very nice prospects. It will be interesting to see if the Cougars play next year or if their guys maybe play elsewhere. If the Cougars don’t play next year the Hanson cousins will likely be a target. This is a good ECI team, they will just need a bit of size at the next level.
Team: Dakota Schoolers
Returning Line-Up: Nathan Rook, Trevor Olson, Mason Larson, Aaron Fiegen, Trevor Hanson
A Need: This team has size (with a D1 committed big in Hanson), it has a solid PG and it has workers and shooters. I would say a help would be a slasher at guard/wing.
Final Thought: The combination of guys that played up this year with the guys that played well on the 16U team is very exciting for the Schoolers.
Team: ND Phenom
Returning Line-Up: Cole Gendreau, Jordan Polynice, Trae Steckler, Josh Kihle, Camren Steckler,
A Need: They also have Bartholomew Ogbu at forward so I would say the team needs a bit more guard play.
Final Thought: This is going to be a good sized team and Polynice is versatile so he can play in the backcourt with three guys with size in front. Add a shooter and/or a transition pusher and the squad is quite interesting.
Team: BBA Force
Returning Line-Up: Topher Zahn, Diang Gatlauk, Brady Van Holland, Koln Oppold, Chris Beachler
A Need: Oppold is versatile and can play a couple spots so forward should be solid. Another big would really help them.
Final Thought: We think Oppold and Gatlauk are going to have big winters and should return to BBA ready for victories next winter. A couple upgrades and they will be quite dangerous but competition is quite stiff with what PBC and the Schoolers have coming back.
Team: SD Attack
Returning Line-Up: Lincoln Unruh, Jack McCabe, Matthew Mors, Jayden Mauldin, Chol John
A Need: The team needs some more scoring punch but there is real potential here.
Final Thought: Lots of things to consider here. Do they move some of the talented 15U kids up to 17U? What about Matthew Mors who was listed on the roster at the Summer Classic, does he play up? How much will Chol John improve? Interesting group.
Team: SD Heat
Returning Line-Up: Taten Gale, Holdyn Beck, Mason Schmidt, Jeffrey Schuch, Ryan Wieneke
A Need: More size up front. All the biggest players coming back are 6-foot-4. This would be a good spot for a guy who is 6-foot-6 and looking for time up front.
Final Thought: If they got somebody to fight in the middle and that freed up Schmidt, Wieneke, and one of the state’s definite up and comers Jeffrey Schuch, this team could look more like the team of two years ago. Gale is a nice lead guard.
Team: Dakota Niners
Returning Line-Up: Trace Sikkink, Jadon Janke, Jaxon Janke, Brennan Stoltenberg, Licas Trooien
A Need: They need to have all the 16U kids playing up work out for them experience wise and then add the guys that did play 16U to the rotation.
Final Thought: The Niners were an active summer team that had some success. They have a lot of multi sport athletes so playing too much in the spring is tough but we would love to see their talent a bit more.
