Levi Stockard 6’8″ Gateway 17U (Vashon, 2017): He was simply a powerhouse performer in the paint as he led Gateway to the championship in convincing fashion. Levi was an absolute load. He got paint touches early in the game and was establish himself as a presence. He scored on jump hooks and displayed great footwork around the basket. He can also score with his left hand with a nice touch. He was one of the state’s biggest stock risers during the spring and that play has continued into July.
Daniel Farris 5’11” Gateway 17U (Vashon, 2017): “Peanut” ran the show brilliantly as he led Gateway to the 17U championship. He did an excellent job of spreading the ball out and establishing his bigs in the paint early. When it is time to score, he showed the ability to get buckets. He could always get in the lane, but he is flashing an improved 3-point stroke. He did an excellent job of making sure everyone got fed, which is what a true point guard is supposed to do.
Derez Tipler 5’9″ SEMO Bulls 15U (East Prarie, 2019): He provided the most dramatic play of the day with a fall-away 3-pointer at the buzzer to give his team a 50-49 team against Chauncey Billips (CO) in the quarterfinals. Derez did much more than that leading up to the final game-winner. He is a pass-first point guard with tremendous speed and quickness. He was able to get to the basket and score, plus he could stop and pop with the short jumper. An impressive young point guard.
Momandou Diarra 6’9″ Gateway 17U (St. Louis Christian, 2017): The long and lanky power forward was a force at both ends because of his length and activity. He had 15 points and 10 rebounds in Gateway’s semifinal win over Indy Elite Central. He knocked down a couple short jumpers and a 3-pointer. He guard multiple positions on the perimeter and also protected the rim with some shot blocking. When his activity rate is high, he can impact the game in a variety of ways.
Kyle Noah 6’4″ Arch Ryvals (DuBourg, 2017): I watched the first half of his game against the T.R.U.T.H. Elite on Sunday and he was excellent. He is a bouncy young forward who delivered several buckets. He scored on a couple of nice turnaround jumpers in the lane. He grabbed some offensive rebounds for put-backs and of course, he gave you a slam dunk in transition. He is a tremendous athlete with a lot of room to grow as a player.
