Bizeau, Nibbs Are Two To Watch
In the class of 2019, we are still only really getting to dive into some of the talent. We have them ranked up to the Top 50 but it is that next group we are trying to discover this July. In my first game of the day, it was a pair from Indiana Faith 2019 that really stood out.
6’5 forward Brock Bizeau, the younger brother of Gavin Bizeau, has really taken a growth spurt in the last year. He’s a much different player than his brother but just as intriguing. At 6’5, Brock can play inside and out and have a ton of versatility. He’s pretty comfortable in his body, more so than his brother was at that age, and he is a little more polished as well. Brock is likely going to be quite a bit smaller but more of a true wing with a solid offensive skillset already.
Tyreese Nibbs is a slender guard out of Ben Davis. BD guards are typically stocky and strong but Nibbs is about the exact opposite. A lean guard with some shiftiness and passing ability. He had a little flash to him and while he created well for others, he was really solid getting his own points as well.
Few Name To Track In 2020
When it comes to the class of 2020, we are just trying to get our feet wet but we did come across quite a few names. One of them was Hamilton Southeastern wing Chris Grubbs. The 6’4 forward looks the part of a high-end prospect. He moves really well and handles the ball on the perimeter like a guard. Skilled with a body that is ready to go, Grubbs is definitely on the Watch List for this class. He did well driving and getting some opportunities for himself.
We also got a good look at George Hill 2020 Wedlow today. There were a number of solid prospects including Jamari London, Anthony Scales, and Rickie Wedlow. EG10 Martin had a really nice pair in Charlie Peterson and Korey Ash-Simpson.
EG10 2020 is a team we have already gotten a good look at but it is stacked with talent. With guys like Jordan Stolle (6’3), Keegan O’Neill (6’6), Andrew Welage (6’4), Jesse Burdick (6’6), and Gunnar Vannatta (6’8), this is one of the biggest teams we have come across in that age group. Welage and Burdick are two of the more interesting guys on this team. Welage is the younger brother of Ryan Welage (Greensburg / San Jose State) and he is just as skilled. Burdick is out of Illinois but his motor and low post game are great to see at this stage.
Pocket City, Grassroots Indiana 2017 Blue Get Big Wins In Opening Round
The 17U brackets got underway tonight at Warren Central and both Pocket City 2017 and Grassroots Indiana 2017 Blue got big wins to open up play. Pocket City had a tough time getting past a very tricky Ohio Unity squad. They squeaked out a 56-52 victory and will now face the Indy Hoosiers 17U team tomorrow at 4:30 PM. Hoosiers now have Kris Wilkes and Paul Scruggs back from the UA Camp in Charlotte.
Grassroots Indiana was able to pull away in the second half and beat George Hill Rising Stars 17U, 74-55. Matt Jennings was stellar again as well as Haden Deaton. Jennings ended with 17 points, Deaton with 19. Both Jennings and Deaton picked up offers from Grace College today as well. They will face off with Memphis Bulls Elite tomorrow at 4:30 PM at Warren Central.
