McLain Could Be Inline For Big Season At Center Grove
Indiana Elite Central 2018 guard Nate McLain is one of the more intriguing guys I’m looking forward to tracking this winter. The long, lanky 6’3 guard always seems to look the part when I sit down to watch. He handles the ball well for his size and although he is skinny, he is really strong while not giving up his aggressiveness. For Center Grove, he could be a big contributor for them. For small colleges, this could be an early guy to track for the next class.
Meredith A Big Time Guard Prospect
Cathedral guard Donyell Meredith could be a player that jumps on the scene within the next year. The 6’3 prospect was impressive on Saturday. He’s got a big, strong frame and moves speed and intent. He wants to score the ball and he’s skilled enough to make the tough finishes. He can side-step, spin, pull-up all while finishing the play. This next season at Cathedral will be an interesting one with a new head coach and a big roster turnover. He could step into some quality minutes really quickly.
Birchfield Has Impressive Outing
Chaz Birchfield, a 6’5 wing out of Hamilton Southeastern, is another guy I’ve liked this summer and he looked as good as ever on Saturday at Warren Central. Chaz is a taller wing but he’s active, mobile, and fairly athletic. Birchfield is also really good at working the boards. He pulled in a double-double with rebounds and points and cleared that with ease. His size allows him to fight inside with taller post players but he’s much quicker and athletic which gives him a huge upside. He should get some run this season on Varsity with Hamilton Southeastern.
Harris Will Be Big Player In Montgomery County
Cameron Harris will challenge Cam Chadd as the best player in Montgomery County this coming season. The two 2018 prospects are going to make that area a little more fun to watch this season. Harris, a 6’3 guard from Crawfordsville High School is a really talented prospect who can do quite a few things pretty well. He’s got the size you like while still being able to play on the ball. He’s got a good scoring streak as well as he tends to like to shoot from deep. His size and quick trigger make him difficult to stop. While still a way off, Crawfordsville vs. Southmont should be a good game for some small colleges to step in and watch this coming winter.
