Carte’Are Gordon 6’8″ Webster Groves (2018): The man-child was dominant in leading the Statesmen to the tournament championship. After a successful spring season with MoKan Elite in the EYBL, Gordon has gotten better. He displayed improved footwork in the post and he ran the court hard and got quick post ups in the lane. He showed excellent composure as well because he took an absolute beating throughout the day. A true force.
Brandon McKissic 6’2″ SLUH (2017): Brandon displayed his trademark high motor on offense as he attacked the basket at every opportunity. He played through the contact and converted several three-point plays. When he is making his pull up jumpers off the dribble, it makes him very difficult to defend. Plays hard on both ends on the floor.
Xavier Womack 6’5″ Cardinal Ritter (2017): The slender wing looked very good in Ritter’s victory over Althoff on Sunday. He was very active on both ends while swooping ends for several offensive rebounds. He had one impressive one-handed tip-dunk in traffic. It was very nice. When he plays with great activity and a high motor, he can get a lot done, especially in a transition game.
Cam Potts 6’1″ Webster Groves (2017): Did a real nice job defensively throughout the weekend. He guarded SLUH’s Brandon McKissic and then Illinois commit Javon Pickett of Belleville East in the finals. He worked his butt off on both occasions, moved his feet and made them work hard to get their buckets. He has improved his strength and athleticism to the point where he has become explosive.
Adam Flinn 6’0″ Lafayette (2017): I was very impressed with Adam’s savvy play at point guard. He is an excellent ball handler who has a knack of getting in the lane with regularity. When he got there, he dropped some impressive dimes to teammates inside for layups or on the perimeter for open 3-pointers. He also converted on some nifty drives to the hoops.
Ray Adams 6’1″ Webster Groves (2019): One of the top shooters in the tournament, Adams was in complete knock-down mode as he hit five 3-pointers in the championship game against Belleville East. With a dominant post player like Gordon inside, Adams is going to get a lot of open looks from beyond the arc. He took advantage of those opportunities on Sunday.
Atavian Butler 6’2″ McCluer North (2019): A slashing wing who played with great activity, Butler was all over the place. He did a nice job of getting to the basket on the drive and could deliver pinpoint passes to open teammates. He is also an excellent rebounder for his size. He was not afraid to get in their and battle with the big boys. He handles the ball well and made good decisions with the ball while playing fast.
