The 6’2″ Orf has been solid in his role as a third guard for the Cadets on their district championship team, playing alongside Division I recruits Jordan Barnes (Indiana State) and Christian Willis (Arkansas State). With Barnes and Willis moving on to the collegiate level next season, Orf is ready to move up and become one of the focal points at CBC.
“I cannot wait for next season,” Orf said. “Since I was a freshman, JB and Chris have been the go to guys. I’m excited to fill that role and I know they and the coaching staff have prepared me for it.”
A talented offensive player who can play either point guard or shooting guard, Orf will soon be following his former teammates to the Division I level. He has already received an offer from Southeast Missouri State. He has also received interest from schools such as Oral Roberts, Princeton, Cornell, Sam Houston State, UMKC, Fresno State, SIUE, IUPUI, Lafayette and Nebraska-Omaha.
Orf is playing for the Missouri Hustle 17U team this summer, which is competing in the inaugural NY2LA League. Orf has performed well in the first two sessions of league play in helping the Hustle to a 5-2 record. He has consistently scored in double figures. He averaged 11 points and two steals a game in the league’s second week of action.
“The NY2LA competition is great,” Orf said. “It may not be as high a level as the EYBL or Gauntlet, but there is a lot of Division I talent. Every game is close and you have to fight every time you step on the floor or you could get embarrassed.”
With his height and strong build, Orf is an ideal combo guard. He has displayed the ability to score at all three levels. He can get to the basket and play through contact to finish in the lane. Orf also has excellent 3-point range off the catch. He also has the ability to create off the dribble and get his own shot. Orf also has the passing ability and basketball IQ to fill the point guard role.
“A lot of people see me as a shooting guard, but I know and a lot of my teammates and coaches know that I can be a point guard,” Orf said. “I also have the ability to score, so I can play both. I like to think of myself as a scoring point guard.”
