When enthusiastic crowds file into the bleachers on Friday nights, it’s likely they’re going to be expecting a lot out of Bennington. He’s the guy.
“You got to live up to the expectations that everyone wants you to succeed. It definitely motivates me though. Because it makes me want to work harder, so that I can keep the respect of teammates and of the community and stuff. I always help out with the kid’s camps and stuff, because I want kids to look up, I just want like generations of kids to have their positive role model in high school,” Bennington said.
At 6’4” Bennington mostly plays the wing, but he told Prep Hoops Ohio that can defend almost anyone.
The 2015-16 First Team All-OCC Cardinal prospect played with King James Ohio Varsity in June. Due to the football commitment, he will play sparingly in July with a grassroots team from Fort Wayne.
He’s receiving a balanced amount of recruitment between the two sports.
“Right now it’s about even … Notre Dame in Cleveland, Saginaw in Tennessee, and the College of Wooster are all looking at me for football.”
How about basketball?
“Honestly I’ve always liked basketball more … Mount Union talked to my coach and they want to see me work out … Some school in New York I guess is interested in me, my coach was telling me about it the other day, I don’t know the school’s name,” Bennington said.
“I want to be a teacher or an athletic director, so I look for schools with a good education system. Also, like I don’t know, for our school we always have a good student section at our games whether for both football and basketball. So I think like school pride is another thing. And honestly anywhere with the opportunity for me to play and develop,” Bennington said, when asked what he looks for in a college.

Although he currently has no offers, tracking Bennington’s recruitment process during his senior year will be of intrigue. Considering his ambitious mentality and athleticism, he will again be one of the best hoopers in the OCC-Cardinal next season.
On the dribble drive, he moves at a point guard’s pace. Once Bennington is in the paint, he resembles more of a power forward with the way he welcomes the contact.
On defense, the vocal leadership and hustling cannot be ignored.
Bennington is hoping to improve upon his 3-point touch to expand his game and attract scouts to the Wooster stands this coming winter. Given his leadership responsibilities as a player and leader, any given game should be a complete display of his prowess.
