“They have been saying they like my pace and how I never get rattled playing and stuff like how I just lead the team,” Rivera said of what college coaches have been saying to him.
This has added with the 6-foot point guard’s skills to draw the No. 22 prospect in the Prep Hoops Indiana Top 175 interest from Ball State, Morehead State, IUPUI and University of Southern Indiana. While he doesn’t have any official offers from these schools, he is planning unofficial visits to Morehead State and USI in the near future.
He is hoping his play this summer can help take him from interest to offers as the summer season continues and progressing into his senior season.
“I just need to show a new side of myself, show I can score and do a lot of things,” Rivera said. “The schools they know I can pass the ball and set-up teammates, and they’ve been saying they want to see me switch it up a little bit and be more aggressive this year.”
Rivera has also been working to improve his quickness and athleticism, along with his defense, to help add to his growing repertoire. This would create a strong game to go with his impressive intangibles as a prospect.
“Everyone says they need a point guard that can lead like that, and I just get everybody going and stuff,” Rivera said.
