A three-year varsity regular, Bristol was second on the team in scoring last season, averaging 15.5 points (second to Matt Austin’s 16.3 ppg average), and led the team in rebounding at 4.6 per game, and assists at 2.3 per game.
This after leading the team in scoring as a sophomore at 13.4 per game, rebounding at 4.2 per game and assists at 3.2 per game.
As a junior, Bristol shot 50 percent from the field, knocked down 28 3-pointers and shot 35 percent from behind the arc, and made 71 percent of his free throws.
He said recently in an interview that he considers himself a good decision maker with high basketball IQ who looks for the open guy.
Although he currently doesn’t hold any offers, Bristol says he is hearing from several schools, including Simpson, Central in Iowa, and University of Chicago.
Bristol is spending the summer playing for the Kansas City based Pacers and says it has been a good experience as he showcases his game.
“We’ve played well for the most part,” he said. “We struggle when we come across size because we don’t have very much size. It’s been a good experience for me because it’s showing me what I need to work on to take my game to the next level.
“I am working on attacking the basket stronger and finishing, my quickness and shooting.”
Bristol said the biggest influence on his basketball career has been his dad.
“He’s at almost every single game and he’s the reason I started playing,” Bristol said. “He tells me what I’m doing wrong and makes sure I get in the gym and fix it.”
On the court, Bristol says he looks up to Russell Westbrook.
“He is the most fun player to watch in the NBA in my opinion,” Bristol says. “From watching him I’ve tried to implement how he attacks the basket and his physicality into my game.”
