The 6’8″ 250-pound Gordon will play for the U17 team that will represent the USA at the 2016 FIBA U17 World Championships in Zaragoza, Spain from June 23 to July 3. Gordon was a finalist for the USA U16 team at the 2015 tryouts.
“Blessed to be able to not only represent Webster Groves and my city, but to be able to represent the nation through the game of basketball,” posted Gordon on his Twitter account upon his selection.
Gordon is currently playing for the MoKan Elite 17U team in the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League. He is one of top frontcourt players for a MoKan team that finished league play with a 13-3 record and qualified for the Nike EYBL Peach Jam in North Augusta, S.C. in July. In 16 games, Gordon averaged 10.3 points and 6.2 rebounds while shooting 61 percent from the field.
Gordon spent the first year and a half of his high school career at Vianney. As a freshman in 2015, Gordon led the Golden Griffins to a Class 5 district championship. As a sophomore, he averaged 19.9 points, 12.2 rebounds and 2.6 blocks in 16 games before transferring to Webster Groves.
Last weekend, Gordon led Webster Groves to the championship of the SWIC Summer Slam in Belleville, IL. He holds numerous offers from Division I schools, including Kansas, Illinois, Kansas State, Missouri, St. Louis, Iowa, UNLV, Cincinnati, Purdue, Oklahoma State, Marquette and USC.
