At 6-foot-6, 225-pounds, Lucas filled up the stat sheet this season for Poplar Bluff, averaging 21.8 points, 9.7 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 2.1 blocks per game. He shot 51 percent from the field, and knocked down 29 3-pointers while shooting 33 percent from long distance.
Lucas says he is an all-around player that can do a little bit of everything well — shoot, dribble and pass.
This spring, he has competed on the NY2LA circuit for the Missouri Hustle and has helped the squad start the sessions 5-3.
“We’re having a pretty good summer,” Lucas said. “We play hard and very underrated.”
He is averaging 11 points and 4.6 rebounds per game and shooting 58 percent from the field.
Lucas says he has heard from Northeastern State and Missouri State, but does not yet have any offers.
He says the biggest impact on his game has been his family.
“My parents have a big impact on my career they have been with me from Day 1 and I wanna help my family when I get older and I feel like basketball can help me do that,” he says.
On the court, Lucas says he looks up to the Spurs’ Kawhi Leonard.
“He’s so humble and he’s a killer too and that’s what I wanna be like,” Lucas said. “And we’re about the same height, but I wanna have all his aspects.”
