A high flying, versatile 6-foot-5 forward, Timmons is an above the rim player with good touch from perimeter and good post moves who can also take opposing bigs off the dribble.
In his first year of varsity basketball last season at Lamar, Timmons averaged 16.4 points, 7.7 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game. He shot 61 percent from the field for a Lamar team that finished the season 20-7.
Summers says he is still looking for his first offer but hopes a summer with the Mavericks will boost his stock.
“I am ready for them (offers) to start,” he said. ” I want to continue my basketball career and believe I have the talent to do so.”
Timmons says he is spending the offseason working on his ball handling, perimeter shooting, free throw consistency and strength.
“This is my first year to play with the Mavericks,” he said. “I had my first tournament last weekend with them and it was a great time. I think it will be a win- win for both me and the team.”
Timmons says his father has been the biggest influence on his basketball career.
“For the past 10 years, he has done everything possible for me to play basketball at a high level,” he said.
On the court, Timmons says he enjoys watching LSU freshman Ben Simmons, who recently declared for the 2016 June NBA draft.
“He (Simmons) has such great court vision and awareness from a player that size,” Timmons said.
