Now he and his Davies teammates have played in three local Grassroots basketball events and have had great success winning 11 of 15 games.
“Our AAU team was made up of kids from our school so it was a good opportunity for us to get some more work in and to improve for the future,” Jake said of playing with D-17s.
Paper made 61 percent of his 300 field goal attempts last year including 35 percent of his 65 attempted threes, and 70 percent of his 80 free throws. Very impressive numbers that laid a strong foundation for Jake to work with going forward.
“I’d like to improve on my quickness and agility and I think I’ve improved most on my outside and inside shooting as well as driving to the basket,” Jake said.
“My goal is to try and improve myself and my teammates as much as I can and to get some chemistry going forward into the fall for school ball next season.”
Paper led Fargo Davies in rebounding, blocks, field goal percentage, was second in minutes by ten total, and was second in scoring by two baskets. He will also be a leader when it comes to North Dakota talents boosting their stock.
“I have received letters from both Minot State and Jamestown,” said Paper about the potential of playing college hoops. “I haven’t decided on a college I’d like to attend but I’d like to major in civil engineering.”
