The 6’7″ Pinkley is a talented power forward who brings a versatile skill set to the table. He is running with the Jets-Ramey 16U team this summer in the Adidas Uprising Gauntlet Series. He is the team’s top front court player.
“It’s been going well so far,” Pinkley said. “We have a lot of good players and we’re starting to come together as a team. It also helps me to play against players who are better than I am.”
Before his sophomore season even started, Pinkley displayed enough potential to earn offers from Division II schools Lindenwood University and Illinois-Springfield. He has also received interest from Missouri, Saint Louis U., Drake, Northwestern and Truman State.
Pinkley’s size and ability to score in the paint or on the perimeter have made him an attractive prospect. On a Jets-Ramey team loaded with talented guards, Pinkley provides balance with with low-post scoring. He can also step out and knock down 3-pointers to stretch the defense and open driving lanes for his teammates.
“Right now, my strengths are hitting from the outside and scoring around the rim,” Pinkley said. “Now, I’m working on my ball handling and my ability to get to the basket more.”
Pinkley has been a force on both ends in his two varsity seasons at Hillsboro. As a sophomore, he averaged 17.8 points, 9.6 rebounds and 3.5 blocks a game. He also shot 50 percent from the field, 71 percent from the free throw line and made 32 3-pointers in leading the Hawks to a 21-7 record and a berth in the Class 4, District 3 championship game.
“I thought my sophomore year went pretty good,” Pinkley said. “I’m just trying to get better for next season. We should have another good team.”
