Now the junior is back with the Dakota Schoolers who have played hard and played tough. The record is a bit short of what they want but they’ve only played SPTS and NY2LA League teams so the competition has been better than anybody in South Dakota has faced.
“We’re doing okay so far,” Copper said of the Schoolers. “It’s not showing too much in the wins and losses, but we’re growing as a team.
“We had a tough couple of weekends in the NY2LA series, but we went 4-4 in the SPTS weekends and could’ve easily been 6-2. I like our team and our chemistry and we are definitely getting there.”
Cooper is expanding his game working on his own and working out with the Schoolers.
“I’m working on my shooting, in particular my pull up jumper. I feel I’ve come a long ways this winter and this spring defensively, but I’m still developing into a good defender.”
Cooper is looking at several options in terms of playing at the next level.
“I’ve heard from University of Sioux Falls, Dakota Wesleyan University, Northern State, Minot State, Nebraska Wesleyan, Concordia (NE), and Dakota State for basketball,” said Williams.
“I’m still deciding what I’m going to do, but I would like to play basketball somewhere. In terms of major, I’m thinking about either Pre-Law or Sports Management.”
Williams is focused on the rest of the summer with the Schoolers where there are two more NY2LA events (in Vegas and Milwaukee) as well as the SPTS championships in Sioux Falls.
“I want to end my AAU career on a positive note. I’ve played four years with the Schoolers, and this is the best team I’ve had. We’ve played a very tough schedule, but we’ve won some games. Hopefully we continue to grow and get some wins in July.”
