Trent Lyles 5’11” Missouri Hustle (Sacred Heart): My first time seeing this young man play and was very impressed. A pass-first point guard who slick handles and tremendous court vision. Really keeps the offense flowing on a good perimeter-oriented team. Penetrated to the basket well and had some nifty finishes at the rim.
Cameron Williams 6’3″ SW ILL Jets (Hazelwood Central): Love the versatility of this tough, athletic wing player. Can score from just about anywhere on the court. Very good in the post against smaller defenders, but he can get out on the perimeter and create a lot of offense. Got out in transition and had a lot of success on the break.
Trae Meny 6’4″ Missouri Hustle (Palmyra): A long, lean wing player who lead his team in scoring throughout the tournament. Made five 3-pointers in the Hustle’s semifinal loss to the SW ILL Jets. Moves without the ball well and gets to his spot and knocks down 3-pointers with a quick release.
Rayonte Childs 5’9″ Arch Ryvals (Northwest Academy): Had a excellent weekend in leading his team to the championship game. Very quick with the ball and has the handles to get anywhere he wants to go. When he played off the ball, he displayed the ability to shoot the 3-pointer. Loves to play fast.
Julian Hodge 6’1″ SW ILL Jets (O’Fallon): This young man is a smooth operator on and off the ball. He is crafty with the basketball and had some real nice finishes in transition. He handles the ball well and can make teammates better. Also showed his nice stroke from 3-point range.
Kyle Noah 6’4″ Arch Ryvals (Riverview Gardens): His skill set is still a major work in progress, but this is one uber, athletic young man who plays with a high motor. Threw down four dunks in his team’s semifinals victory over the Bears. Stayed active and engaged around the basket.
Jordan Yates 6’4″ SW ILL Jets (Belleville East): An undersized power forward who was just a problem with his strength and activity around the basket. He is physically strong and and excellent athlete. In the Jets’ victory over Missouri Hustle in the semifinals, he dominated the action inside and wore down smaller defenders.
Jamonta Black 6’2″ Missouri Hustle (Rock Bridge): A very talented 2019 prospect playing up in the 16U division. Very skilled wing player who can pass, dribble and shoot. Smooth athlete who has a big up-side. My first time watching him play and was very impressed.
