Continue ReadingThis spring has come by quickly and now we are starting to get a grasp on some of the top players rising. Now, heading into June and July, we are expecting some breakouts and based on the spring, you can see who they are going to be. We are taking a look at some of the potential breakout candidates later this summer.
Arius Jones
6’3 – G – Fort Wayne Carroll – Spiece Indy Heat 2018
Arius has been one of the under-the-radar spots on that Spiece team as they have a ton of talent. Jones, however, is a big, strong guard who can do a lot of different things well and with more time, he should really start showing that to colleges. In terms of 2018 talent, not many are going to get a ton of looks, it just isn’t time but if a 2018 guard is going to breakout, Jones could be the guy.
Caleb Brown
6’6 – PF – Cathedral – Gary Harris Elite 2018
Caleb has done a really good job of getting his stock back up after sitting out this past high school situation after sitting out a year due to transfer. He’s transformed his game a bit to more of a wing player and that is starting to take hold. He’s gained a lot of attention this spring but he is still looking to hit that next bump up. He’s got the “surprise” factor on his side and that can really help this time of year.
Gavin Bizeau
6’9 – PF – Plainfield – Spiece Indy Heat 2018
Gavin already has an offer in hand and there are quite a few reasons why he is one of only a few in that class to say that. He’s a very attractive piece as he has great size and a good shooting stroke. He’s that stretch four that everyone wants and that versatility makes him a player to watch this July as he could stand pat with that one offer or bump up to several offers and entrenching him in that DI level for good.
Damezi Anderson
6’6 – SF – South Bend Riley – Indy Hoosiers 2018
Damezi is one of the most high-powered offensive players the state has on his good day. However, he has his lulls as well as he continues to grow into his game this summer. With that said, he is due to get his first offer and should this summer. From who and how many are still to be determined. Anderson is the most likely candidate to breakout and grab a slew of offers in the entire class.
