Playing on a deep team that featured several key performers on the front line, including 6-foot-7 senior Trevor Koelling and 6-foot-6 senior Adam Bax, Nathan Bax was one of the Crusaders first players off the bench.
“I am a explosive player who has a quick first step and wants to get to the rim and I have a good post game with multiple good post moves,” he said.
Bax and his older brother Adam Bax helped guide Helias to a 20-10 record and a berth in the Missouri Class 4 Final Four where the Crusaders took home third-place.
“Getting to final four is an amazing experience,” Bax said. Being able to go is a rare opportunity and i charished it while i was there. MSHSAA did a professional good in hosting the teams and hosting the final four. The enviroment there is special, the feeling of being able to play on Mizzou’s court and play in front of that many fans is amazing.”
Bax said he doesn’t currently hold any offers, but has talked to several schools about attending camps and other events. He says his father and his older brother Adam Bax are the biggest influences on his career.
“The biggest influence on my basketball career has been my dad because he has been a basketball coach and he has been around basketball pretty much all his life and he has been to almost all of my games so he is always telling me stuff I need to fix and stuff I need to improve on,” he said. “Also my older brother adam has been a pretty big influence on me because I played with him my first two high school years and he has always told me what to do and stuff I need to fix to improve my game.”
Bax averaged 7.0 points, 3.9 rebounds per game on a deep and talented team that featured several key pieces on the front line. He is competing this offseason for the Missouri Combat who are coached by Matt Baker. It will be the second season he will compete for Baker and the Combat.
“Competing in AAU tournaments is different compared to high school,” Bax said. “In AAU ball the refs r going to let you play more and not call as much so it has allowed me to become tougher and more physical basketball player.
“This offseason I have a lot to work on. This year I wasn’t very versatile in my game and I’m going to have to work on that so I can become a bigger weapon in the court and help my team. I need to work on my ball handling, free throws and jump shot.”
