An athletic and versatile 6-foot-2 player, Reed had a pair of strong games, scoring 18 points in the quarterfinals and 20 points in the semifinals at the Missouri Challenge. Reed has a big frame, is left handed and can do a little bit of everything. At the MBCA Challenge, he always seemed to be in the middle of plays. He plays well without the ball, finishes tough chances in the paint.
“I would describe my game as a jumping jack I go after every rebound and dead ball never quit,” he said.
Reed said after a weekend spent playing with and against other all-stars at Drury, he hopes to find a home of his own at the next level.
“It was so fun playing this weekend in Springfield,” Reed said. “I knew a couple of guys, I even played ball with Tre Williams (Rock Bridge) and Will Rucker (Moberly) on my traveling team.”
Reed said he doesn’t currently hold any offers and has heard from North Central Community College in Trenton, and Columbia College.
“After this weekend I definitely want to play ball in college,” he said.
Reed said his parents and Larry Rucker have been the biggest influences on his basketball career.
“My mom and dad because they always tell me to strive to be my best and don’t let me quit or get down on myself, and Larry because he has been my coach for as long as I can remember and has always been there,” Reed said.
On the court, Reed said he is a big fan of Blake Griffin and LeBron James.
“I like Blake Griffin because he can fly like nobody I’ve ever seen and he goes after the rim hard and fast,” he said. “I wish I could fly like he could but I can’t … also Lebron obviously because he is so talented and strong and also can fly.”
