• Aaron Cook, Westminster, St. Louis (Southern Illinois)
The only Division I commit to play in the Challenge, Cook is headed to Southern Illinois to play for Barry Hinson. He is an athletic guard that can get to the bucket and create his own shot, or set up teammates. Sat out much of Sunday’s action due to injury.
• Isaac Johnson, Kickapoo, Southwest (Drury)
Playing on his future home court, Johnson showed off his ability to create his own shot. He is an explosive scorer, capable of putting up points on the board in a hurry. Johnson has a smooth pull-up jumper off the bounce, and range past the 3-point line.
• Ryan Briscoe, Duchesne, St. Louis (Quincy)
A point guard that knows how to score the ball, Briscoe is a bull of a player at 5-foot-11, 175-pounds, with a strong frame. Is good off the bounce, at attacking defenses, but can also knock down the 3 ball with ease. An all-state performer, Briscoe averaged 19 points, 3.1 rebounds, 2.8 assists per game and knocked down 61 3-pointers while shooting 45 percent from long distance.
• Sam Husting, Helias, Central (DePauw)
We only got to see “Slammin Sammy” play one game as his Central Missouri team was bounced out on the first day, but the DePauw commit is one of the state’s better shooters from long distance. He made 89 3-pointers this past season while shooting 36 percent from long distance and averaged 17 points per game.
• MJ Johnson, Benton, Northwest (North Central CC)
The MBCA Challenge was our first chance to see Johnson play and the 6-foot-6 forward showed off some elite athleticism. He is a pogo stick around the rim at both ends of the court. He averaged a little more than 8.0 per game and shot 66 percent from the field this season for a Benton squad that went 20-7.
• James Norton, Mexico, Northeast (William Woods)
A point guard with a steady hand and a nice looking 3-point shot. Norton knocked down several 3s in his two games for the Northeast squad.
