We could have selected a slew of players from the St. Louis Eagles 16U team, which is a loaded crew. The entire team might be raising their stock this spring.
Marcedus Leech (St. Louis Eagles 16U) SG — There aren’t many more talented guards in the 2019 class in the region than Leech. He has a rail thin, wiry frame (think Larry Hughes or Jamal Crawford) and has all the tools necessary to be a five star prospect. Blessed with a sweet left-handed stroke, Leech can create shots for himself off the bounce and has deep range well beyond the 3-point arc. Leech showed off his hops, and he can really pass, setting up a talented front line for easy buckets around the rim.
Jared Ridder (MoKan Elite 17U) SF — Ridder is a 6-foot-7 wing in the 2017 class that has seen his stock rise over the past season, drawing interest most recently from Xavier. He earned a starting spot this past weekend on a talented MoKan squad and continues to show off a smooth perimeter shot.
Brandon McKissic (St. Louis Eagles 17U) PG/CG — At 6-foot-2, McKissic is a combo guard that can play both guard spots. McKissic is a tough-as-nails defender that plays with heart, passion and an impressively high motor. Goes full tilt all the time, even in a throw-away summer game. Is a solid floo general with some nice leadership qualities.
Derrick Walker (MoKan Elite 17U) PF — Walker is going to reclassify and attend a fifth-year prep school according to MoKan coach Rodney Perry. Doesn’t always score a lot, is a garbage type player at the offensive end. Has nice size and a nice frame. Walker’s best attribute might be his intangibles. Displays great leadership, great verbal leader at the defensive end of the court.
Cam Davis (MoKan Elite 17U) PG/SG — Davis is a solid all-around guard that earned a starting spot this past weekend for a really talented MoKan team, starting in the backcourt alongside five star Trae Young. Davis can play the point, and is a good enough shooter to play the 2 as well. Is a fundamentally sound player that always seems to be in the right place at the right time.
Diego Bernard (MoKan Elite 16U) PG — Definitely one of the up-and-coming young guards in the Missouri 2018 class, Bernard really controlled the show for MoKan throughout the weekend. He is a strong, quick guard who is at his best attacking the basket.
Deontei Johnson (Missouri Gym Rats 17U) SF – The Gym Rats really battled some talented squads at the Warm-Up, playing the Jackson Tigers and the Memphis Magic tough in losses before capturing a close win Saturday night. There were a host of players who performed well, but Johnson is a much improved performer. Finally healthy after battling several injuries throughout his high school career, Johnson showed off a nice 3-point stroke and also battled in the paint for rebounds.
Shalin Stout (SGF Tarheels 17U) F/C — Stout is a 6-foot-8 2018 forward who is probably not at the same level as some of the other players on this list, but he is an active big man that battled some bigger, more talented players and held his own. Is a left hander. Mostly a garbage man at the offensive end, but does a decent job of finishing around the basket.
