Glendale Falcons
Monty Johal (6-2, 2018): One of the most talented offensive performers to come through the Springfield area in some times. Is super skilled, can really create his own shot off the dribble and has a nasty crossover. Really excels in the open court, but is tough in the mid-range game. Has long arms, is a sneaky defensive player and is the Falcons best shot blocker. Mid-Major Division I player
Jordan Walton (5-11, 2018): Is transitioning this season into a full-time point guard role this season. Has good court vision and playmaking ability. Like Johal, is probably at his best in the open court as he is a good finisher in transition. Is a solid outside shooter. Has gotten bigger and stronger over the course of the past year.
Tristan Baker (6-1, 2016): Smart heady player with a good feel for the game. Has a high basketball IQ and seems to come up with key plays at key times. Can make outside shots, but hasn’t attempted many 3s this season. Is probably at his best taking the ball to the basket and making plays. D3/JV
Hillcrest Hornets
Tyem Freeman (6-3, 2019): Probably didn’t play his best against the Falcons in this game, but still had eight points and guarded Walton throughout much of the contest, one of Glendale’s best players. Freeman also had a key hoop late in the contest to keep the Hornets close. Freeman is a long wing player who plays within himself. Has some skills, but they are still raw. Can handle the ball a little, is a good passer and has a nice outside shooting stroke. One of the Springfield area’s top freshmen.
Shahn Clark (6-1, 2017): Talented lead guard who can handle the ball and get to the basket. Is an improving 3-point shooter and a big offseason could help him take his game to the next level.
Tim Washington (6-1, 2018): Washington might not have a future in college basketball, as he is an undersized forward. But he can really play, he does the little things at a very high level. Is a solid rebounder, a good finisher around the basket, but might be at his best at the defensive end. Really gets into his man defensively, both on the perimeter where he moves his feet well and gets physical, and in the post where he plays bigger than his height.
