He can shoot, pass and defend. The only knock on him is his height as he stands just 5’7. Williams makes up for that with his speed and smarts. It’s hard pressed to find a quicker guard in the state of Indiana and he can play with anyone in the state even though he goes to a 1A school.
Williams also is a good rebounder for his size gaining double-digit rebounds three times this year and averaging 6.3 per game. The most intriguing part of his game is his defense. Williams averages 4 steals a game and really creates havoc as a lockdown defender. Willliams complements that defense with efficient offense shooting over 50% from the field and dishes out 4.3 assists a game.
“This year I have worked on my perimeter shooting,” Williams said. “I have also worked on my ball handling under pressure and it still needs a little bit of work. I have gotten better with my facilitation skills a lot and definitely have worked on rebounding to make it easier on the other guys. I like to make my teammates better”
Willliams doesn’t have any interest from colleges quite yet but a deep run in the State Tournament and a good AAU season could help him out. Williams could emerge as one of the best 1A point guards next year and coaches will start to take notice. Liberty Christian is #2 in 1A and Williams really enjoys the atmosphere surrounding the team.
“I love the feeling of winning,” Williams said. “We have another chance at a state title and last year we lost in a heartbreaker. We have a chance if everyone plays together.”
