Continue ReadingWith his high school career in its final postseason, Lance Dollison is still hearing from a multitude of schools. The Fishers senior has two official offers from Div. II schools Urbana and Central State. He also has talked to University of Indianapolis, Huntington University, Grand Valley State University and has been in communication with Div. I programs Detroit Mercy and Furman.
The visits and decision will have to wait, though, until after Fishers season officially ends.
“I’m waiting ‘til the season is over because don’t want to get into anything right now as we are in the swing of things,” Dollison said. “Whenever the end of the season is, me and my family and (Fishers) Coach (Joe) Leonard think is the best idea is what we’ll look at.”
The things to look at aren’t just a final college choice but where to visit. Dollison, the No. 20 prospect in the Prep Hoops Indiana Top 200, said he has taken an unofficial visit to University of Indianapolis and will plan his other official visits following the season. When he goes he’ll be looking for a place that fits what he wants as a student and person.
“I’ve been looking somewhere that can better me as a person and student first, that’s the biggest thing to me and my family, but other than that, I want somewhere I feel like it’s a brotherhood, a family,” Dollison said.
Wherever Dollison visits and eventually decides, he will offer a skillset that allows him to do a lot on the court. The senior is able to shoot and create his shot and has shown improved ball handling. This is what has college coaches most interested in him.
“They’ve been telling me I can play one through four and they see me as a shooter, scorer, and some of them have even said they like my defense and that could get me on the court as a freshman and immediately play,” he said.
Until then, though, he’ll push Fishers as they continue sectional play tonight against Guerin Catholic.
“Survive and advance, that’s the big thing,” Dollison said. “Keep playing hard, keep believing in each other and play for our teammates, and that’s the biggest thing.”
