The Tigers are 29-0 and are coming off a 63-44 win over Liberty North in the quarterfinals. Lee’s Summit will face Kickapoo, 29-2, in the semifinals at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday at Mizzou Arena in Columbia.
An long, rangy 6-foot-7 2016 forward, Sears has a diverse skill set and can play all over the floor. He can score in the post, or step away from the basket and face up, scoring from the high post or driving to the bucket from the 3-point line.
At the defensive end, Sears is an athletic rim protector who has terrific mobility and timing as a shot blocker.
“Every game we just go out and give it our all and stick to our game plan,” Sears said. “The coaches do a good job scouting. We are a bunch of seniors and we are best friends, so it helps us get along on the court.”’
Sears said he spent the offseason playing grassroots basketball for several years for Next Level and most recently played for KC Premier. he said the experience has helped him grow his game.
“It was real fun,” he said. “I like traveling all round the country and playing and seeing all the competition, what it has to offer. And it really prepared me for the season.”
Sears said he has talked to quite a few JUCOs and NAIA schools, but still has not made a decision about his college future.
